SOWING FOR THE FUTURE HARVEST

Luke 6:38 NIV

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

I grew up in a family where my parents were givers and very generous, not always monetary but in every other area. I tithe and would sow extra seed into ministries, charities, international projects and give to the poor because of what I saw them do. Also, the biblical teaching and the example from my pastors regarding giving and seed sowing impacted our lives.

Our goal was to be able to purchase our first home based on one salary. As a young couple and 2 children, sometimes I had 2 jobs. I would consistently tithe off everything that came into my hands and decree the Word of God, Proverbs 3:9 and Malachi 3:10 over my tithes and offering. Why? Because Tithing is another form of worship, trust, and faith in God.

Proverbs 3:9 NIV says “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.

Malachi 3:10 NIV says “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

We practiced saving, discipline spending and having an emergency fund. It was tempting to deviate from the plan but having an accountability partner was another catalyst in meeting our goal.

In 1989, we were able to purchase our first beautiful home with just 1 salary. You cannot tell me that my God does not watch over his words to perform it!

APPLICATION:

Faith without works in dead, James 2:26 NIV. This verse emphasizes that faith alone is not enough, and it must be accompanied by action. You must do your part. Be faithful in honoring and obeying God. Always give God what due him. Teach your children these biblical principles early in their life. Being accountable and disciplined is key.

Remember God is the one who gives the ability to get wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

PRAYER:

God, thank you that your desire is for me to prosper in every area even as my soul prospers. Thank you for your Word, parents, and mentors you placed in my life over the years. Help me continue practicing your biblical principles and steward your blessings well and bless others. Amen
